Soccer: Well, the Brazilian Championship (Serie A) doesn't start before Saturday April 23rd.
However the 3rd round of the Brazilian 'Copa do Brasil' takes place on April 13 though it's not yet known whether a team from Rio will qualify because the 2nd round will first have to be played on 6/7 April.
I have been to Rio many times as a corporate pilot. To be real honest, I have traveled all over the world as a pilot. Rio is one place that I tell people that I would never go back to. If you like South America, I would go to Cuzco Peru, or Manaus Brazil and see the Amazon. I think Rio is too dangerous and not worth the money you would spend to do it. I met a British couple in Rio who were robbed on the beach. The sad part is that they had saved up for five years to go there.
